Dr. Marlene Zuk, will give a presentation and lead a discussion about bias in the evaluation of scholarship and its impact on the representation of women in science and engineering. Dr. Zuk is a behavioral biologist who has long been interested in women in science. In addition to her research on the evolution of behavior in crickets and birds, she is the author of papers and book chapters that address feminism and the study of behavior and evolution. Dr. Zuk's visit to ISU is sponsored by the Department of Ecology, Evolution & Organismal Biology Graduate Student Organization. In addition to her presentation at the ADVANCE Networking Event, she will give a technical seminar entitled "Rapid evolution in silence: the causes and consequences of signal variation" on Thursday, March 13 at 3:45 in 210 Bessey Hall.
