Upcoming ISU ADVANCE activities this fall include:

Dr. Mary Harris, faculty fellow in 2008-09, will report on her work on faculty flexibility, which supported the theme for the ISU ADVANCE Program last year, "Recruiting the Best: The Role of Work-life Flexibility."

Save the Date: Wednesday, February 24, 2010 - Workshop and presentation by Dr. Caroline Turner, Professor in the Division of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Lincoln Professor of Ethics and Education, and Doctoral Program Director for Higher and Postsecondary Education at Arizona State University. Details are forthcoming.

Reminder: ISU ADVANCE Lecture Co-sponsorship Program grants still available

ISU ADVANCE offers 10 lecture co-sponsorship ($300) awards each year. Departments and programs can apply for funds for the 2009-2010 academic year now and throughout the 2009-10 academic year until the funds are exhausted. 2009 Iowa Women of Innovation Award Nominees

The Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) announced the finalists for the second annual Iowa Women of Innovation Awards Presentation – a premier event to elevate and celebrate women leaders in science, technology and engineering. Nine awards will be given to recognize women in Iowa’s workforce who are trail blazers and role models in their fields. The winner in each of the nine award categories will be announced during the 2009 Women of Innovation Awards Dinner held at the Meadows Events & Conference Center on Tuesday, November 10. Iowa State University has nominees in the following categories:
Research Innovation and Leadership
Toni Wang, Associate Professor, Food Science and Human Nutrition
Wallapak Tavanapong, Associate Professor, Computer Science

Academic Innovation and Leadership (Post-Secondary)
Robyn Lutz, Professor, Computer Science

Collegian Innovation and Leadership (students)
Jessica Tobelmann, Senior, Chemical Engineering
Katie Githens, Junior, Software Engineering

The Joan Bice Underwood Tearoom, 23 MacKay Hall, is a teaching operation within the Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management program.
